Opportunities for Nurse Externs
Gain a head start on your nursing career nurse externships allow nursing students to get a head-start on their careers by supplementing what they're learning in the classroom with real-world, hands-on nursing experience where they have an opportunity to care for actual patients in our hospitals.
Start your nursing career on the right track
Our nurse extern program is designed to support nursing students currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN), allowing them to learn from seasoned nursing professionals to strengthen their nursing skills. In our nurse extern program, students will:
- Gain hands-on nursing experience.
- Part-time employment as a nurse extern, where you'll perform clinical tasks within the scope of a nurse technician(a minimum of 24 hours within a 4-week period is required).
- Train with their peers.
- You'll advance through the program with a cohort of other nursing students.
- Enrich their classroom learning experience.
- The program includes monthly training sessions to supplement your current coursework while enhancing your clinical experience and professional development.
- Nursing students in our extern program receive a monthly stipend of $500 to help cover the expenses associated with earning your degree.
- Get a head start on their nursing career.
- Nursing students in our extern program get priority consideration for available full-time RN positions upon graduation and receiving licensure with a guaranteed offer for a med/surg night shift position (unless otherwise offered).
To apply, students must:
- Be a current student accepted in an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program.
- Have completed at least one clinical rotation.
- Have current BLS (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Complete an online application for our Nurse Extern Program.
